When I think upon the world today, there is an appearance of suffering, chaos and violence present, but I must remember to hold in my mind that there is so much beauty to behold as well. In times of disruption, I feel it is important to remember this so I can try to be more compassionate and less negative, in order to increase the energy of peace. Of course this is not always easy and I am sometimes reactive in ways that are not always conducive to equanimity. . That being said, every moment is a new opportunity for me to change my course, forgive myself and others and create peace. So, I wonder what I can do to help make things better for myself and others. We seem to be in collective a state of disconnect and destabilization, causing a spiraling of events that appear to threaten all life on Earth. I often find myself sitting quietly, asking, “What can I do to help?” The answer I get is, “Seek truth, be kind and compassionate to others, and seek the same in those you engage with.”

Then I find myself trying to figure out exactly what that means. First, I would say that truth is relative. Truth may mean something different to me than to others. But to be authentic and truthful with yourself regarding your life and choices, is to be in alignment with your soul or essence – your stream of consciousness. To have awareness of self – our actions and reactions – to live life consciously, rather than simply letting life happen to us, is to live truthfully and with purpose. It is only when I know myself – my programming from family, society, culture and experiences – my likes and dislikes, my fears and inspirations, that I can make effective changes in my life. Knowing myself and my projections also allows me to see other people and situations more clearly. If I am not present to myself, I cannot fully be present to others. When I am present to myself, living in awareness of who I am, I am better able to indentify and dislodge my fears and judgments towards myself and others. When I can live in this state of mind, I can have compassion and kindness for others and for myself.

Achieving a peaceful state of mind does not mean I am devoid of feeling or emotion, it merely means that I do not allow the disturbances of my mind to hang around for too long, coloring the next moment which is new and open to possibility. Understanding this, I am careful about who and what I engage with. My openness and sensitivity allows me to live a fully engaged life, but it also means that I am directly and indirectly affected by my surroundings. So to the extent possible, I choose to engage in people and experiences that are uplifting and inspiring. Life happens – good and bad. We can’t ignore the suffering around us. We must acknowledge it and deal with it, but we must also remain in the present.

It is my understanding that we vibrate at a certain rate or frequency, and just like two tuning forks vibrating together, our vibrations may have an effect on others and theirs on us. So I think that an effective way to help myself and others is to live my truth, be kind and compassionate to others, seek the same in those I engage with and see the beauty around me whenever I can. When doing this, my vibrations can add to the field of hope and healing – something our planet is so much in need of today.

Thank you for reading and thank you for caring for yourself and the world!

Love and Blessings,

Magdalena
